Camp safety matters, but briefings are where young people switch off. Too complicated and too top-down, they feel like rules to sit through. The Safety Navigator wanted to move past that and make safety something campers aged 8 to 17 would understand, engage with and actively join in.
BRX turned safety into a sport with the National Safety League. Campers compete together and safe behaviour becomes part of camp culture. It put safety ahead of the problem, giving kids a reason to get involved instead of tuning out. Within the first month after launch, 200 camps had signed up for the program and 600 had requested materials.
